Attractions and activities in Braunton and the surrounding area include:
Cycling – Wyndham Villa has secure storage for cycles or Otter Cycle Hire in Braunton village is just a few hundred yards away. The Tarka Trail Cycle way runs for more than 30 miles, and between Braunton and Barnstaple and on to Meeth is traffic free.
Beaches – the area is renowned for its sandy beaches which are ideal for windsurfers, surfers, bodyboarders and sailboarding, plus traditional family fun with buckets and spades, rockpooling, sandcastles, dunes and ice cream! Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands beaches both have surf schools where expert tuition is available.
Horse Riding – there are riding schools in Braunton, Croyde and Mullacott, near Ilfracombe (see Links page).
Golf – Saunton Golf Club is just 2 miles away, and there are many other clubs within a short drive from Braunton (some may require handicap certificate and your home members club card, others are pay and play).
Fishing – The river Caen, which runs through Braunton, contains mainly brown trout plus a run of sea trout. You can try sea fishing for mackerel out of Ilfracombe harbour – book with the boats on the quayside. Beach casting, tidal river estuaries, stocked coarse and game still waters are nearby.
Shopping – Barnstaple Pannier Market and town centre shops are just 6 miles away.
Farmers Market – Held in Braunton Parish Hall on the fourth Saturday in the month from 9.30am-12.00pm.
Villages – the picturesque and quintessentially English villages of Croyde, Georgeham and Mortehoe are nearby, with picture postcard thatched cottages and cream teas to enjoy.
